chorus

The St. Louis Metro Singers celebrated its 20th anniversary in January 2007. Since its beginning, the Chorus has entertained audiences at a variety of functions and locations, including regular seasonal concerts at Southwest Baptist Church, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and in Columbia, Illinois, for the Dorothy Weinel Eppinger Foundation. The Metro Singers’ annual Christmas concert at Southwest Baptist Church is traditionally recorded by KMOX radio and broadcast on Christmas Eve; its annual spring/summer fund-raising concert has played to capacity audiences; and, in 2005 and 2006, the Chorus performed with the Compton Heights Concert Band at the band’s annual Christmas concert at Powell Symphony Hall.

The St. Louis Metro Singers traces its musical tradition to The Cosmopolitan Singers, which was founded in the 1950s by Dr. Helen Louise Graves. This group was dissolved in 1986 upon Dr. Graves’ death and was succeeded by the St. Louis Metro Singers.

The Metro Singers currently has a membership of over 90 quality voices from St. Louis City and County, Metro East, and neighboring communities. Its members represent varied ages and diverse backgrounds, but all have a common desire – to share their love of music with people throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area.
